Before & After: 1710 10th Street NW

The Louise is our latest renovation project! Located at 1710 10th Street NW,  The Louise is a conversion project from a single family home into a new two unit luxury condominium in the sought after Shaw neighborhood. This luxury condominium features two large units with secured parking and a landscaped yard. Unit 1 is a 2BR/ 2.5BA unit with a den while Unit 2 is 2BR/ 2BA unit with a private roof deck.

Before the renovation, this traditional single family home featured a formal dining room, formal living room, small kitchen towards the back of the house, three small bedrooms with one shared bath on the second floor and an unfinished basement.

The goal of the renovation was to create two large luxury condominium units that featured a modern, open concept floor plan. To achieve this we designed each unit so that the kitchen, living room and dining room had no dividing walls. Another goal of the renovation was to increase the amount of natural lighting in the building. In both units we used floor-to-ceiling windows to bring in as much natural light as we could into not only the kitchen and living room, but into the hallways and bedrooms as well. To emphasize the modern layout and the natural lighting we kept the design scheme very clean and bright by using a more neutral scheme such as light hardwood floors, black hardware, white kitchen cabinets, marble tile and countertops. 

To complete the renovation we painted the exterior of the building a dark grey with white trim, installed a natural wood toned door, and added copper exterior lighting and building numbers. One of the biggest improvements to the exterior is the landscaped lawn. We added blue flagstone pavers to create a walkway and a patio area. We surrounded the patio with mulch and shrubbery for a well manicured look.
